Welcome to the Memory, Cognition, and Self (MCS) Lab at Wesleyan University!
In the MCS Lab, we use theories and methodologies from both cognitive psychology and social psychology to study the psychological mechanisms associated with the highly subjective manner in which people experience and make sense of the external world. Some of the questions our research explores include:
- How do we process the “selfness” of external entities and how does this self-related processing affect our cognition and behavior?
- How does our prior experience affect what we derive from current experience?
- How do our emotions affect how/what we learn and remember?
